If you're like me, and you love Halloween but hate scary movies, this post is for you. Although I do watch the occasional horror (my housemates make me do it), I would much rather watch a good thriller, drama or just a comedy. So this is your guide to non-scary Halloween movies that wont leave you with night terrors.
1. Donnie Darko (2001)
An obvious choice (as it's my favourite movie of all time), Donnie Darko is a supernatural thriller/drama that follows a young high schooler (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is told the world is going to end in 28 days by a bunny rabbit named Frank.
2. E.T (1982)
I'm sure you've all seen E.T. But if you haven't, it's about an American family who have just gone through a divorce. When the middle child, Elliot, is paying for his pizza he finds an extra-terrestrial hiding in his shed. The film follows him and his brother and sister, trying and hide E.T from his emotional mother and the government.
3. Edward Scissorhands (1990)
When an Avon lady is willing to knock on a massive castle on the top of a mountain, you know she is in need of a new career. In the castle, she finds an unfinished man with scissors for hands. She brings him home and the film shows how he adapts and deals with everyday life, love and even the police.4. Heathers (1988)
The cult classic teen movie, Heathers, is about Veronica Sawyer who hates her group of friends. She started hanging out with this dark, mysterious, rebellious type, JD, and after jokingly saying she wanted to kill one of her friends in front of him, JD does it.
5. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
A British comedy about a zombie apocalypse. The film follows the main characters, Shaun and Ed, comically dealing with the zombies, picking up their loved ones and heading to the pub so they can have a nice cold pint and wait for it all to blow over.
So there you have my top 5 non scary Halloween movies. Will you be watching any of these this week? Also, let me know what you plan on doing this Halloween, will you be dressing up?
