Blogtober day 15. I've made it half way!
What I've been doing
It's been quite the film and TV day today. I've pretty much been sitting in front of the TV all day. In fact I'm watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netflix as I write this post. Earlier I hooked my housemate into watching the Shane Dawson movie Not Cool with me. I love watching his vlogs and skits on YouTube, so I've been meaning to watch the film since it came out at the end of the Summer. I thought it was really funny, but I do understand that you have to be into 'that' kind of crude humor. I love high school/coming of age films, so it was exactly up my street. It's also really cool to see online personalities making an impact IRL, and getting involved in traditional media.
Did any of you watch Gotham the other day? I watched it on catch up last night and loved it. As a massive fan of The O.C, I feel so proud of Ben McKenzie (fists of fury Ryan) for landing such a massive role. If you watched it and you like The O.C, look at this photo I posted on Twitter- so funny!
I really want to start writing film and TV related posts for the blog. Would any of you be interested in that? I spend so much of my time watching films and making my way through TV boxsets, maybe it would be a fun idea to write about them?
To keep to the TV/Movie theme of today's post, I'm going to talk about some of my favourite quotes from my favourite programs and films. I love when you are watching a film and one of the lines stand out to you. Then you know it's a good film!
"Go save the world, Summer Roberts" - Seth Cohen (The O.C)
I love this. If you haven't seen the show (and I'm sorry for spoilers), Summer has to choose to stay with Seth or take the environmental job she really cares about. She chooses to go on this adventure for herself, rather than just settling down and doing what's easiest. There's also a scene where Julie says to Summer "the world deserves to know you." I love this quote, as I think it's tells people to put themselves out there and make things happen. Who knew that such an inspirational quote would come from Julie Cooper.
"I promise that one day everything's going to be better for you" - Donnie Darko
So many times (especially during my teen years) I though that my life would stay shit. I thought everything would stay the same. Looking back, I can tell I'm much happier and life doesn't seem as tough. Donnie says it so well in this scene. However bad things may seem, it will get better. Donnie promised!
"Isn't that just kick you in the crotch, spit on your neck fantastic?" - Rachel Green (Friends)
Who doesn't love this quote?! Like everyone I'm sure, I love the Rachel and Ross story line. But for some reason, I love the whole Julie period where Rachel is moping over Ross, and he has no idea. "You're over me? When were you... under me?" Soo good! There are millions of quotes I love in Friends, but this one might just be my ultimate favourite.
So there you have my favourite movie quotes. What ones would you have on your list?
If you missed yesterdays Blogtober, I talked about some childhood memories. You can catch up here.
