Blackened Winter Polishes

(L-R: Maybelline Color Show in Blackout, Essie in Sole Mate, Model's Own in Deep Purple and Nails Inc in Motcomb Street

Dark off-black colours are perfect for giving your nails a more Gothic look in the colder months. Here are some of my tops picks for darker nails.

1. Maybelline Color Show in Blackout - £2.99: No nail polish collection is complete without a true black nail polish. Whatever time of year it is, I like to wear black on my nails. Blackout has a gel base formula giving a high shine finish which lasts, and only needs 1-2 coats.

2. Essie in Sole Mate - £7.99:  This rich plum colour is a perfect take on a winter red. It leaves your nails looking shiny and glamorous, and only needs 1 to 2 coats. The dark burgundy colour has a wintery feel for these colder months.

3. Model's Own in Deep Purple - £5: This two-toned polish is from the Model's Own Beetlejuice collection which was inspired by the wings on a beetle. Deep purple is a mix of purple and green hues which changes in the light, with a subtle shimmer running through it.

4. Nails Inc in Motcomb Street - £11: Although this polish may look like a muted black, if you look closely it's actually a dark navy blue. It's a very unique colour and only really needs one coat for an opaque look. The formula gives a high shine and is very lasting.
