How to wear this Summers make-up trends

It's easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to make-up. With so many different trends it's easy to stick to what you know and apply the same look day to day. Fragrance Direct have put together a Summer look book showcasing this Summers make-up trends, and shows you how you can style them for different occasions and events, including: a beach holiday, festivals, weddings and garden parties, first date as well as gigs. It seriously couldn't be easier to show off this seasons favourite trends!

The look book goes through the different events you might be attending this Summer, giving you advice on how to incorporate the trends into your look. It's all about going bold, bright and as brave as you dare but still giving you different alternatives to suit everyone.

I had a go at creating some of the looks, so I'll give you a brief overview of my favourite looks from the look book and what products I used. You can see the full Fragrance Direct look book here

The beach holiday look is quick and simple but still gives the impression you made an effort. It really has that effortlessly chic feel to it. It suggests a metallic gold or bronze eye-shadow, or if you feel really daring, why not try a sea blue, turquoise or aqua across your lid. I tried out Shade 12 from the MUA Undressed eye shadow palette, which is a navy blue (the only blue I could find in my collection!) but applied lightly is came out as a soft ashy blue. I really like the effect, and it's nice to try something I wouldn't normally wear. (I don't think I've worn a blue eye shadow since the late 90's!)

For your lips why not try a hot pink? If you prefer something more natural, go for a softer pink shade. I used my Rimmel Kate Moss lasting finish lipstick in 16, which is a rosy pink but when built up in makes quite a statement.

For the beach, there is no better way to style your hair than boho beachy waves! I'm really loving the Toni&Guy sea salt texturising spray at the moment, it's perfect for giving your hair texture and a natural wave.

The festival look allows you to pack light but still make a statement, and it works for both day and night, so no need to pack your whole make-up kit! It's not easy applying make up in a tent so either focus on your eyes or lips, you decide! If you choose your lips for your focus point, why not try a bold orange lipgloss. You can apply different amounts for different desired effects, and it also looks great with natural eye make-up.

If you choose your eyes, bright neon shades are perfect for this season. Yellows, oranges or bright blues will give your eyes the perfect festival make over. Sleek's I Divine I Candy palette is full of neon shades to get you started. If you're not into your neons, how about a pink

No need for a brush, embrace the festival hair and keep it wild. Sea salt sprays are great for beach waves (the Toni&Guy one is a gooden) and why not try some plaits, flowers or headbands

My last favourite from the look book is the gig look. It has a lot of 90's vibes and gives you that grungy edge, perfect for gigs! First off, neat mascara is a no no, how about letting your mascara clump your lashing together, personally I like my mascara like this all the time, it definitely has that grungy feel. I would suggest using a mascara which is blacker than black, I really like the Rimmel Extra Super Lash in black black, it is very dark and if you keep building on the lashes it will give off a very grungy effect. If you love to experiment, why not use a kohl pencil to draw graphic shapes underneath your lower lashes!

Pretty lips is also a no no for this gig look, so keep it simple with a clear balm, how about the maybelline baby lips

Keep your hair effortlessly chic and full of volume. There are loads of different volume products out there you could try, I really like the VO5 Plump me up shampoo and conditioner, which adds body and texture to your hair. You could also use dry shampoo, flip your head upside down and spray the dry shampoo into your roots and underneath your hair, then scrunch until you're achieved the desired effect.

Which is your favourite summer look? I would love to know your thoughts, and make sure you check out the full look book here.
